Expectations

Expectations weigh on my chest like a sleep paralysis demon

Good girls can’t say no

Good girls don’t dress like men

Good girls stay in their place

My family tried to be good and to fit in

It made us all hate ourselves

Conforming meant we were safe outside

But trapped inside our own prisons

Gender roles

Sexuality

Neurodivergence

Fall into place

Don’t be seen unless you can be easily consumed

That’s what America’s about anyway

Commodities

Consumption

Sell your soul to survive another day
