“honey, it’s alright to be alone” – A simple, yet reassuring line that many of us need to hear. I like to think of this line as a mantra to remind me that being alone is natural and normal. A big step towards healing for me is in being alone without feeling lonely. What has helped me in this is to make sure that I am doing things that I enjoy even when I don’t have a companion to accompany me. Some things that I love to do alone are driving around back roads, thrift shopping, walking around museums, and taking my dogs for walks in nature. All of these things make me feel connected to myself and allow me to appreciate my own company.
